HMC Summary

The Alberta Wildlife Watch (AWW) Program aims to:

  1. Reduce animal-vehicle collisions (AVCs) on provincial highways
  2. Improve driver safety
  3. Minimize the impacts of highways on wildlife.

Highway Maintenance Contractors (HMCs) collect data to support AWW Program goals. This monthly summary helps HMCs to track their reports and compare to the expected minimum reporting target 1. Thank you HMCs for reporting carcasses and live animal sightings in AWW.

1 HMC data includes large-bodied animal carcasses only (wolf and larger), unless otherwise denoted (*). The minimum reporting target is based on the average police-reported collisions in this CMA (Alberta Collision Information System 2014-2018 data).
